People in pursuit of better living conditions making me think, how about combining the natural landscape into the interior living environment. In this project, I utilized the natural elements of stone, wood, bamboo in the creation of different pictures seen on different floors. Nature and architecture reach a balance here.

 

The Idea of Bamboo

The site is located in a convenient place with convenient transportation and living facilities.

Comparing to the CBD of Tianjin, This is a place relatively far away from the tall buildings and the stressful working environment.

What’s more, it is a place close to a famous park “Tianjin Qiaoyuan Park”. You can feel the vitality here in the warm spring season, where the duck floating on the water, flowers blossom, leaves swinging.

The design idea is to construct an environment where three generations can all live together, in creating a living space that the senior people in the family have a sense of security, the whole family reunion and living happily.

The famous poet Sushi has once written the poetry showing his living attitude that he would like to eat without meat, rather than live without bamboo. living without meat only makes a man thin, but living without bamboo makes a man vulgar. Therefore I purpose this house is full of nature, having a close connection with bamboo, bringing nature into an interior environment.

 

Design Proposal

First Floor Plan

Function in Plan: Senior Bedroom, Living Room, Dining Room, Kitchen, Garage, Porch

Basic functions: Daily life, Receiving visitors, Etc.

Design:  Connecting the outdoor landscape into the interior with bamboo, creating a courtyard indoor. The functions can fulfill the daily life of senior family members.

Basement Plan

Function in Plan: Tea Room, Underground Courtyard, Video Room, Nurse Room, Wine Cellar

Basic functions: Morning Yoga, Tea, Wine Tasting, Chess, Video Entertainment, Etc.

Design: With the open outdoor space, the teahouse connected to the underground courtyard as the center, the rocks and wood create a quiet atmosphere so that people can get rid of oppression and breathe freely. On the ground floor, it is a relatively more recreational space.

Second Floor Plan

Function in Plan: Bedroom, Cloakroom, Piano Place

Basic functions: Playing the piano, Bathing, Rest, Etc.

Design: According to the age and hobby of children and parents, wooden elements fill the interior space, and the simple and simple style reduces the sense of space compression. There is a good transition between privacy and openness.

LOFT

Function in Plan: Study

Basic functions: Reading, Studying, etc.

Design: Build the entire bookshelf from the second-floor staircase and the window gap to mobilize the reading atmosphere. A net that can sit and read on the middle of the attic and the second floor creates an optimal reading experience.

The entire design did not change much of the wall. I think it is a respect for the original architecture construction.

Underground Tea Room:

The tea room has an open design, and you can invite friends to come and share interesting stories. Outside the window, there are quiet bamboos, and the sunlight passes through the bamboo leaves, revealing a very fresh color. As time passed, the sunlight entered the room in a different direction. The underground courtyard outside the window can be used for meditation, returning to tranquility and pursue your inner heart.

Reconstruct the Public Space Between Human And Greenery

Living by this street for more than 3 years, I have never seen people passing by would like to stay in this street for a while. As new high-rise residential complex built, bike-sharing boomed, stores occupied the street, cars parked, the street becomes chaos for all users. How to reclaim the street as a public space for everyone?

Site Analysis

The street is about 750 meters long, mainly cover by residential, plays an important role in daily routine and living, included diverse functions, contained different schools for students of different ages.

 

Existing Vegetations Clusters

The whole street mainly covers by these plants, has a variety of styles, growing patterns, and seasonal colors. Due to the most empty space covered with grass, without any maintenance and hard to maintain, activities can not behold in the greenery.

Wishes of Local Users

Design Concept

Everyone might have different demands on the street. The concept of the pixel will respect most of the existing plants, which have grown there over 5 years, re-organizing the greenery into diverse spaces for different people. Functions can be changed according to space and demand.  Everyone can find their favorite place in the street.

 

Street Original Statues Study

Due to constructed in different regulations period, we can divide the street into 3 parts. First, the mall built in the 2010s. Second, the community built in the 1990s. The kindergarten and grocery in the third part.

Proposal Plan Analysis

The subway station will move into the mall in the future. After re-organize, the pavement widens for pedestrians, the street has more potential tracks slow down to stay.

Strategy to the First Segment

In the first part, space design for all people. One important way to find out space is to remove cars and tidy up bicycles. Vertical parking lots will clean up the street taken up by cars, bicycle parking lots tidy up the share-bike.

Ping Pong Space

After the cleanup and reorganize, the street will be able to contain people to play and stay.

Strategy to the Second Segment

This part design focus on middle and aged people. As the communities constructed earlier with less public space, more open space makes people can share and communicate.

The plastic wood floor softens the hard surface of the pavement for daily exercise. The newsstand without any usage in the first part street will become a book share station for pedestrians to read for a while or take their book for exchange.

 

Strategy to the Third Segment

In this part, the design focus on children. Providing more space for children to play and spend time playing with their parents on the way back home.

 

The Rhythm of the Tang Dynasty

Location: Luoyang, Henan, China

Ying Tian Men(Gate) was the south gate of Sui Tang imperial city(Zi Wei City), built-in 605 A.D. The original name was Ze Tian Men. Ying Tian Men(Gate)  was an important place for the imperial court to hold significant celebrations and diplomatic activities. As the city of Luoyang had suffered from a thousand years of brokenness due to the moving of the capital to another place and wars. The building was rebuilt now to show the great history dynasty. This design focus on the landscape and the square aimed to solve the faded of the Ying Tian Men(Gate) site, cultural history, and other issues. The design based on the site history feature, combined with natural and modern technology, re-coordinating the surrounding road and planning, and finally create public green space, realizing area for the local citizens and tourists. Restoring the historical axis of Luoyang city, this work proposes to recreate the Great Sui Tang Dynasties scenery.

Transform from Airport To Ecology Food Park

Location: Honghua District, Nanjing, Jiangsu Province

 

More and more people will live in urban, but less land can be used to grow food as urban expansion. This design visualized the empty large scale historical military airport, using it to better serve the people, maximizing historic preservation.

Honghua Airport, built-in 1929, and was the best airport before. As time has gone by, the urban replaces town, new airports replace the old. The airport starts to move away since 2009 and was shut down in 2015. The site in an area that takes advantage of communication, which convenient for the citizen to get to.

Site Characteristics and Issues

 

The site did not open to the public in the history, once become a sports ground in the 1950s. Still remain so many historical characteristics. As the function of the military no longer exists, it should be open for citizens and revitalize.

 

Food Structure of the City

Every citizen consumed about 1kg of food every day. But most of the grain, fish, and vegetables are transport from the city outside, which means there will be great opportunities to grow crops in the city with modern technology to improve self-supply. Not only can shorten the transport distance, but it also can provide fresh food with less nutrition loss.

 

Hydrological Analysis

By studying the rainfall data of past 50 years, water consumption data of different crops (including maize, soybeans, cotton, wheat, sorghum, peanut, alfalfa, vegetables, potato, sesame, sunflower, beets and grape), these graphs compared the rainwater and alfalfa, which consume most water all the year-round, showed the possibility of rainwater collection into crops growing.

 

Idea of Future

Proposal

As the climate will provide a large amount of clean rainwater every year, there is no need to import water from the river, which already polluted. This place vastness already has the infrastructure, suitable to collect rainwater and grow food on a large scale, providing fresh food and convenient for science and technology practice.

According to the document of regulations, the local design-rainfall of 33.1mm can collect 84.5% of stormwater runoff. In this case, the lake is estimated to be 80000m³ which ability to collect storm rain above 200mm in 24 hours, being able to support the crops drainage in driest weather without any rain for more than one month.

According to the soil nutrient and the market, the big field with soil rotation strategy not only can ensure high yield but also making the farmland diversely in creating the beauty of the landscape.

We are all living in a world full of music and noise. Whether it is possible to design a stage can reduce noise and enhance the music for them to sing instead of loudspeakers making noise?

The square outside is usually full of noise every day at night in some cities in China.

User Scenarios Analysis

Concerning the music player will play music in a different environment, the shell should be easy enough to adjust, detach and move, which the original structure nearly impossible. Therefore a new structure was designed to make it possible.

Construction Optimization

The collapsible structure makes this shell can be able to adjust or transport easily, set up quickly in a different environment and be ready to a show.

Lighting Design

The accessory of lights will connect to a smartphone, making the show possible at night. Different ambient can be created and changed according to the kind of music.

 

 

 

Urban Playground & Extreme Sport Park

It is a part of mankind to play! After being shut down for nearly 10 years, the cement factory has become a ghost town where no one would like to go there. Why not make it into a park where you can play there?

 

Site Analysis

The site located in a suburb before. Since the reform and opening-up, urban expanded, this industrial area became a barrier for urban further develop. Some factories have been moved.

User Resource & Potential

As people have a high demand on sports and care about health these days, this can be a place that provides other sport types which still not have.  Also, an infrastructure supplement of suburb urbanization, where people can do daily exercise, try and play other sports.
